Money Alcoholic

On a day called “Confession”

Let’s start this off by saying I “K” have a shopping problem. The feeling I get when I walk into the store is one that can be overwhelming, I tend to let things get a little out of hand.
On one particular day “C” and “K” where out shopping on our Christmas Vacation and we went store to store finding great deals and fabulous outfits. As we were shopping “K” would find things that she loved and just had to have, they may have been a little expensive but when she has to have it she has to have it!

We were close to finishing up our shopping outing when “K” came across the most fabulous shirt and pair of ear rings that she just needed so badly!!! When she got to the checkout counter the lady that was checking her out gave the total and she went for her wallet and to our shock, SHE WAS OUT OF MONEY! “What where did it all go?” She was totally out of money and in love with the shirt and ear rings so she was not about to put them back! She thought should I open a credit card and come back? What was she to do? At that point “K” remembered her reserve which was a LARGE BAG of change she had in her purse. She pulled it out and asked “C” to come help her count all of this change (it was a ton people, she was paying for a shirt and ear rings with it) it took about 5 minutes witched seemed forever to “C” or was getting more embarrassed by the second. At that point when “k” was counting her change out to the last penny she realized that she had a problem: SHE WAS A MONEY ALCOHOLIC. As she walked out of the store that day with a new shirt and ear rings in hand she vowed to “C” after humiliating her that she would never make her help pay with a bag of change again and that she would work on her issues.

After that shopping experience “K” can’t completely say that she has overcome her “Money Alcoholic” problem and that she still doesn’t go a little crazy from time to time but she no longer carries around a large bag of change for her back up, if she doesn’t have the money she just doesn't buy it!

So for all you Money alcoholic’s out there, know there is hope! You might think you need it so bad that you would do ANYTHING to make it happen. But remember that how you “make it happen” could be an embarrassment to someone else!

Cheers,
K, C & E
